“If you think living in Austin feels like a permanent vacation, you’re not aloneâ€â€¦ Thus begins a brief news report in the Austin Business Journal titled Austin Tops 10 “Greenest†Retirement Destinations. According to a recent U.S. News and World Report, the nation’s retirees selected 1000 Best Places to Retire. From that list, only 10 were selected as the ‘greenest’ retirement destinations.
With our numerous urban parks and wilderness preserves, it’s no surprise that Austin made the list. Zilker Park received special recognition for offering Austin residents hike-and-bike trails, a hillside theater, swimming holes and botanical gardens.
Let’s not leave it to the news reporters and studies to tell people why Austin is so great. If you have a comment on why you love Austin and all that it has to offer, please post it here.
I will get the dialogue started… As I write this, I’m sitting outside my East Austin Real Estate office on the back deck enjoying our zen garden and the warm Austin sun. The birds are chirping and a light breeze rustles the leaves.
Ah, living the good life in Austin. It truly does feel like a permanent vacation. Thanks, Krisstina.
